New Year's Eve

2008年も今日で終わりですね。

今年はいろいろ新しいことが起きた年でもありました。

大学院を修了して高校で英語を教えることになったり。

教えることの難しさを肌で感じるようになったり。

結婚することになり、式場を探したり、ご両親に挨拶に行ったり。

結婚式を終え、役所に手続に行ったり。

そんな感じで今に至ります。

結婚して１週間が経ちますが、何とかやっています。

生活習慣というか文化の違う２人が一緒に生活しているので、crossculturalな衝突は避けられませんが、何とか生きています。

２つのcultureを融合して（英語学的に言うとmergeか。あ、でもどちらかがheadとなってlabelになってしまうな。）、全く新しいcultureを造り出していければと思います。

Just married

本日婚姻届を提出し、正式に夫婦になりました。

何だか手続きが面倒ですが、妻は（この言い方が新鮮）仕事のため一人で市役所へ。

その後は買い物です。必要なものがありすぎて財布の中身も銀行口座の中身も寒い寒い。

家の中は段ボールだらけで一向に片付きません。

ていうか、左足の付け根（もっと簡単に言えば股関節）が痛いんですが。

サッカーは最近やってないのに何ででしょう。

あ、ウイイレ2009とPS3のセットをビックカメラのポイントで買いました。

液晶テレビでやると迫力が違うね。

地デジもアナログと全然違うね。

使わない電気はこまめに消しましょう。

何事も節約節約。

というわけで、今後ともヨロシクです。

Moved to my new house.

結婚により、住所が変わります。

まだ婚姻届を出したわけじゃないし、住み始めたわけじゃないけど、もし新しい住所が必要な場合には、メールかmixiのメッセージでお知らせください。両方とも連絡先がわからない場合には、この記事にコメントを残してください。

It's a private affair...

Maybe I have written in the section of self-introduction in mixi, but I write again.

I will get married with my fiancee next month, who has been long-associated with me since we were in our third year of high school.

I'd like those who are very close to me to attend our wedding reception. (I'm sorry, but I have already sent all invitations. So, you cannot attend if you want to.)

We're going to have our wedding ceremony in the garden, which is so-called 'garden style'. The ceremony being held in December, it may be very cold.

From the financial point of view, my marriage may be premature. However, it's about time I settled down, for I've been associated with her for a long time.

According to information from the community of my alma mater in mixi, some graduates are married. Maybe we are enough old to get married. Uh, I feel my age....

I'm very busy preparing for my wedding and newly married life. I'll start what I can do now.

I have the nerve to expect a rain of congratulations from you!!

Obama's speech

I haven't written for a long time, approximately a month. Maybe you think that I am a bad correspondent.
What with the classes in the high school and the preparation for my marriage, I've been busy. So I could not write this column.

Now I move to today's topic, which is about Barack Obama's speech. He was elected the 44th President of the United States on November 4th, 2008 in Chicago. I make it a custom to listen to his speech made on that day, which I downloaded from YouTube. His English is quite plain, I think, but I cannot understand some words. So,　I'm listening as I look them up in a dictionary.

Poor at speaking in English and lisntening to it, I am in the habit of listening to various English passages or articles with my iPod. As I'm generally admitted to be a grammar enthusiast, I do not care about speaking and listening very much. But I've been interested in listening to English since I heard Obama's speech.

Now is the time to study English. That's why I wrote this column in English.
