IELTSの試験に限らず聞かれて困る質問
"Do you have any hobbies?"
(I always thought... well I'm too busy to have hobbies or why would you care about my hobbies - This answer would be very awkward so I have to come up with something...)
Yes I do, one of my hobby is to travel abroad. I love to meet new people, try different kinds of food, and visit historical places such as castles, temples, or any other places that have ancient histories.
"When did you first develop the hobby?"
Well, my first time of going to a different country was when I was in high school. My school organized a trip to Germany, which was a whole different world to me at that time. I stayed with a German family with three kids and their culture was so much different from that what I used to; their language, food, family rituals, the way to spend weekends. Now I work full-time so it is difficult to have that much time to experience them all, but whenever I get some amount of time away from work, I go to the countries I have never visited before.
"What are some advantages of having a hobby?"
I guess the big advantage of having your own hobby is that you become yourself when you are doing what you love in your free time. You forget about your work or anything that is stressing you out and it is very important for people to take some time off from those stress. Also, you get to explore new world with your hobby, not necessarily when you have the kind of hobby that I have. Even if you like to play some music, you might meet new people or try playing new instruments that will give you new experiences and the confident that you are broadening your world.
