What I often think about is one of the paradoxes of education.
You, as a student, are told to be obedient and free.
Listen to your teacher, but be a self-determined individual.
But if you are free as a result of having been told to be free, are you really free?
There is a similar paradox in being a parent, or in trying to be a good parent.
I know some kind, thoughtful and open-minded students whose parents are negligent and whose home environments are terrible.
What made them so nice a person, then?
