米ジャズ・サックス奏者、オーネット・コールマン（1930-2015）の’８２年リリースの傑作アルバム ”Of Human Feelings”（オフ・ヒューマン・フィーリングス）
フリー・ジャズのＲ＆Ｂ化・ジャズファンク化といったスタイルで迫る、非常にコンパクトにまとまった作品集
私が今作を手に取ったのは、新譜として並んでいた８５年ＣＤ盤だったのだが、まずジョルジョ・デ・キリコの形而上作品を思わせるジャケの雰囲気に惹かれた。ジャズの世界って結構何でもありなんだなという驚きも少なからずあった。ちょっと音のイメージが見えてこないジャケというか（笑）
音のほうはというと、こっちもフリー・ジャズの難解なイメージに反して徹底して聴きやすくなっている（笑）。ひょっとするとオーネット作品中で１番ポップなんじゃないかと思えるくらい。今作がなぜコンパクトなのかというと、通常長尺になりがちなセッション・パートをポップ・ミュージックの文脈の中で表現しているかのような佇まいがあるからで、各楽曲シングル・カット出来そうな勢いなのだ。７９年に吹き込まれるも３年後リリースと少々不可思議な扱いなのだが、何度繰り返し聴いても、尚聴きたくなるような耐久性と中毒性が内在する（と思う）。実に楽しめる傑作
