青いベンチの弾き語りやりました
One of my readers asked me to write about my music taste, so here goes!
When people ask me "What music do you like?", my answer depends on who is asking. If it is a Japanese person, I answer my favorite Japanese bands; and when it is a westerner asking, I answer my favorite English bands. The thing is, about half of my songs are by English bands, and half by Japanese bands.
Western Bands
"What is your favorite Western band?" is a simple question for me to answer. There is a British band called "Muse", which my uncle got me into. I knew one of their songs from the radio, but my uncle gave me one of their CD's, and from there my love for them grew. I've been to 2 of their concerts now, one if 大阪城ホール and one here in Melbourne. They have a unique style of music; it is kind of rock, but it isn't your normal style of rock. You really can't know until you listen to them. (Look them up on youtube!)
So here is my top 10 Western bands, and my favorite songs by each band:
- MUSE - Citizen Erased
- Queen - Somebody to Love
- The Killers - Mr. Brightside
- Tokio Hotel - Monsoon
- Bloc Party - Helicopter
- Good Charlotte - Dance Floor Anthem
- Foo Fighters - The Pretender
- The Living End - Raise the Alarm
- The Black Keys - Lonely Boy
- Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks
My taste in Western music is completely different to my taste in Japanese music. My Western music taste is kind of light - medium rock.
Japanese Bands
It is hard to say who my favorite Japanese band is... as I'm sure you understand, your music taste differs depending on your mood. When I'm angry, my favorite singer is different to when I have had a great day!
Also, here are my top 10 Japanese bands (And favorite songs by each respective band)
- Flumpool - 花になれ
- YUI - Green A.live
- 関ジャニ∞ - ズッコケ男道
- Orange Range - 花
- Rock'A'Trench - My Sunshine
- GReeeeN - 涙空
- Aqua Timez - 虹
- Funky Monkey Babys - 告白
- 嵐 - 声
- B'z - 愛のバクダン
As you see, I like Japanese songs with deep lyrics; Japanese lyrics speak strongly to me in comparison to their English counterpart.
Today's Question:
What is your favorite song (Either Japanese or English), and what part of that song do you like?
