This is the temple we went to

The main place we wanted to go into was closed. I talked to a really nice old lady to see if we could go in, she told me that normally it is not opened to commoners. She was sooooo nice. She even wanted to go and check for us if the monks with keys are around. I told her not to bother, and she told me that on お正月, 七五三, ect., would it only be opened to people. She also told us that if we go around the back of the temple, we'll find stairs to go up a mountain. So we did that, and we found a Zen garden with little pebbles and probably a 松針樹. One of those trees with needle like leaves that poke upwards into the sky. We also did the whole water purifying thing when we entered the temple. Scooping water to wash hands and mouth thing. I love doing that, I feel like a real 日本人when i do it.

So we went up the mountain and found more tombstones. Besides that, we found many stone tablets of pictures of different buddhas. I recognized 千手觀音, 如來藥師佛, 十二面觀音 and many others.

I wonder what the name card slot is for. Maybe it's for people to show that they were there? Or what is the need of name cards? Maybe they could get contacted? But by whom?

And this is fascinating too. At first I thought they were 符 to keep bad spirits away, but now I am just curious to what they are.
