Never believe what you hear about somebody from someone else. Find out for yourself. Use your own judgement. The person you hear it from could have something against that person and they might just tell you just the bad stuff to make you dislike them. And some people might say - well they must have done something to not be liked by that person - but actually, that is not always the case. It's the fact that you can't please everyone, and maybe that person just does not like you.
