SUPPORT GROUP
"POWWOW"
The CEE BEE Center is offering an Exceptional Parents’ and Teacher’s Support Program as a FREE Community Counseling Service that invites you to join other parents, teachers and professionals to learn about topics relevant to special needs education and early childhood parenting skills. This Program for Parents aims to provide an educational forum for parents and teachers who are meeting the challenges of especially raising and dealing with children with disabilities but is also open to parents having problems with average kids.
From time to time we will introduce guests from various fields related to learning disabilities and education whose participation will also introduce and facilitate discussion on various topics of interest.
Adults with development disorders and learning difficulties are also welcome to participate in
these support meetings.
The main aim of this unique support program which we are starting is to provide encouragement and guidance to Japanese-speaking parents with children who have special learning or behavioral needs. In addition and more importantly you will get foreign viewpoints on how this problem is being addressed by specialists in countries abroad through Mr. Burton who is the Director of The CEE BEE Center and the organizer of this support programme. The most important reason why he is starting and organizing this support programme is to help and support parents and teachers in order that they may better help and support their children.
He takes into account the Japanese thinking, feelings and psyche, family relationships, education system and his long term practical educational experience in Japan including dealing with children who have development disorders and learning difficulties, He uses this emperience to look at things from both the perspective of a Japanese and a foreigner so as to be able to best help the children, parents and teachers.
Informal meetings will be held about once a month in Fukuoka Prefecture at The CEE BEE Center in Nakagawa town to exchange information and support each other.
There will be a token charge of 500 yen per person and tea will be served free. All advice and information, consulting and counseling
will be provided free of charge at these meetings.
The 2014 schedule for these meetings which will be held for 2 hours in the mornings from 10.00 a.m. till 12.00 p.m. (noon) are as follows:
