PROFILE OF CECIL PATRICK BURTON IN SPECIAL EDUCATION
Cecil has been teaching English and Mathematics to students, including those with development disorders and learning and behavioural difficulties including Asperger syndrome, dyslexia, ADHD, etc.), for around 10 years. He has a Diploma in Special Education from the U.K. He helped to start up a private SEN school called TEAM GIFTED in 2008 in Fukuoka, Japan, and worked for 3 years there as a Consultant and Advisor on the project, including teaching and training of teachers as well as teaching English and Math to children with development disorders and learning disabilities. During that time he has had success in that 3 students from the school went on for further studies at schools in Europe and many of the other children in the school who had stopped attending public or private schools returned to mainstream schools in Japan. Still others who were behind in their studies managed to go on and become better than average students in their class. He has also attended a few of the therapy clinics run by Prof. Koseki of the Japanese American Research Institute in Development Disorders, (JARIDD). In addition Cecil has over the last 8 years helped and volunteered in teaching at various SEN schools overseas including in Dubai, Oman, India and Australia.
He hopes to create and make opportunities in Japan to help children overcome various Developmental Disorders and Learning Disabilities that are on the rise worldwide. To this effect he has started his own Education and Support center for children, parents and teachers in Fukuoka, Japan from August 16, 2013. The CEE BEE Center as it is called is a Center for Communication, Emotions, Exercise and Behaviour, and Effective Education and the focus will be on working individually or in small groups of children, at the same time supporting and educating the parents and adults.
Cecil has also developed and put together his own Kids Yoga programme and Qigong (Chinese massage exercises) programme and is looking at creating other movement and education programmes in Japan over the next years. He has also over the last year gone on to become a certified practitioner in the Move to Learn programme, an Australian based movement programme for children with learning difficulties as of 1st August 2013 and will also be acting as the sole representative for the
Move to Learn programmes in Japan.
Cecil is available for assessments and preparing individual education plans for children and adults, counseling 1 on 1 for children and adults and workshops for groups of parents, teachers and for schools or other special education establishments all around Japan if called upon; in addition to conducting and teaching various education, movement and therapy programmes at The CEE BEE Center.
