↑椅子も改良してみました
英国のNGOが主催するウォーキングイベントに参加してきました。障害を持つ人のアドボカシー活動の一環です。約10kmを3時間半かけて歩きました。たくさんのマスコミや有名企業が協賛で参加しており、ジェンダーおよび子どもの社会保障省の大臣も挨拶されていました。外国のNGO、企業の援助のあり方などいろいろ考えさせられる1日でした。
19th July (382 days) with wheel chair usersI took part in a walking event that was held by NGO by UK. It was one of activities of advocacy for people with disabilities. We walked 10km for three and half hours. A lot of companies, mass communication as sponsors and ministry of gender and children of social welfare had speech.

384日目、幼稚園訪問効果
先週金曜日に幼稚園を訪問し簡単な体操を一緒にやってみました。先生が私の名前を繰り返し子どもたちに復唱させて紹介してくれました。数日後、道を歩いていると近所の子どもが「オブロニ」ではなく私の名前読んでくれるようになりました。先生の力は絶大です。

I visited next kinder garden on Friday, and did some exercises with children. Teacher introduced my name to children and let them call again and again. A few minutes later, when I walked on a road, one of children who live in neighborhood called my name instead of “Oburoni”. I realized that how the greatest teacher’s education technique is.

今日のデスカッションタイムは、切断者それぞれが自分の仕事について話をすることに。金の採掘現場で仕事していた人、乗り合いバスステーションの係員、など。バスについては質問や意見の嵐、身近な問題だけにみんないろいろ言いたいようです。

Today’s discussion time, they made a speech about their own job. Someone worked at the diggings of gold, another one was a master of bus station. The man who was a station master was hit by a storm of questions and comments. They want to say about that because it is an issue that one is familiar with.

生まれつき右足が短い男の子の右股関節は発達しておらず脱臼位にありますが、それでも痛み無く荷重して歩いていました。坐骨と足底に受けを作った装具のフィッティングについてみんなでディスカッションしました。どのように出来上がるでしょうか？

One boy’s right leg is short from birth. In addition to that his right hip joint is not developed and dislocated. However he walked without pain. We discussed about fitting of his orthosis with footrest and tuber sitting. How will it be completed?

最初考えていた行先の乗り合いバスの乗客が一向に埋まる気配がないので、他の経路に変更。ガーナではいろんな行き方を知っておくのが早く移動できるコツです。

There was no sign that the bus which I want to take filled up with passengers. So I changed another root. The knack of how to move fast is to know many routes in Ghana.

8月末に行われるボランティア総会の話し合い。各州からの写真紹介をする企画を提案してみました。楽しんでもらえるといいな。
26th July (389 days) meeting of volunteers association
We have a meeting for general assembly of volunteers association at the end of August. I proposed a plan that slideshow of pictures from all regions. I hope they will enjoy with that.

みなさんホームステイプログラムから無事帰ってきました。先輩隊員の活躍を同僚から聞いてプレッシャーを感じつつも頑張りたいと話す人もいました。みんなの活動を楽しみです。
27th July (390 days) welcome party for new volunteers
They came back from home stay program. One of them talked that she heard old volunteer’s energetic activity by colleagues and felt pressure, but she said she will do her best. I’m looking forward to seeing their activities.
391日目、ラマダン明け
ムスリムの人が住む町の近くを歩くと、白い生地にきれいな刺繍のある服や、色鮮やかなドレスを着た人たちをたくさん見かけました。大騒ぎなのかと思いきや、意外と静かでした。
28th July (391 days) just after Ramadan
I walked near by a town where Muslim people live, I saw many people who wore beautiful embroidered white clothes and brightly colored dress. I had expected a big to-do, but it was quiet.
392日目、カカオの芽
カカオ農園でもらった種を庭に植えて約3週間。ふとその場所を見たら何かきのこのようなものが育っているのを発見。よく見ると以前植えたカカオの種が発芽していたのでした。
29th July (392 days) a shoot of cacao
It passed for 3 weeks from sowing cacao seed that I was given from cacao farm. I found out something like mushroom when I looked at that place. I looked at it carefully, a shoot of cacao was germinated.
393日目、椅子の改良
海外から送られてきた椅子のフレームを使って、固い背もたれ部分を柔らかいシートで改良しました。従来の平坦な板でできた椅子との違いを分かってもらえるでしょうか？
30th July (393 days) refined a chair
I changed a hard back support to soft sheet with a flame of a chair what was send from abroad. I wonder they’ll understand some difference from flat wooden chair?
394日目、助っ人
今週から2人のドイツ人女子大生がボランティアとして配属先にやってきました。幼稚園の先生を目指しているそうです。案の定、現地スタッフの先生が1ヶ月の休暇をとる間7～8人の子どもたちの世話を任されています。頑張れー。

Two female university students from Germany have come to my work place as volunteers since this week. They will be teachers of kindergarten. As I expected, they are asked to take care of 7 or 8 children while teacher vacate for one month. Don't give up.
395日目、演劇の練習
突然子どもたちの演劇の練習が始まりました。3週間後に披露するそうです。ある子は王様、またある子は家来の役を演じます。どんなストーリーなのでしょうか？

Suddenly, children started practice of a play. They will show it after three weeks. Someone plays the role of a king, another one takes the part of a servant. I wonder what kind of story it is.

いつか開催したい運動会に向けて、彼らがどんな種目ならできるのか試してみたい。というわけで、風船と洗濯ばさみを購入しました。うまく行くでしょうか？

I want to try what kind of event they can do for sports festival that will be hold in the future. That's why I bought some balloons and clothes-peg. How will it go?

今日は水の供給が不安定。水がちょろちょろ出たり止まったりの繰り返し。水道が無い環境で暮らしている人のことを考えたら、水道があるだけありがたいと思わねば。
3rd Aug (397 days) water comes out and stops
It is unstable of tap water today. Tap water repeated flowing and cutoff. But I have to thank for tap water is supplied to my house, when I think about people who lives with no tap water.
398日目、いつもの2倍
先週の月曜日は祝日で、診察の日がお休みでした。その分の人が今日一気に訪れて診察待ちの人で長蛇の列となりました。久々の18時終了、みなさんお疲れ様でした。

Last consultation day was off because last Monday was holiday. A long queue was made by people who came at once and waited for consultation. We closed at 6 p.m. after a long time. Thanks for all your hard work.

There may be a pile of order from yesterday’s patients, technicians were busy. Then meeting was cancelled. I understand the reason, but if it was not possible, let us know.

雨は一日中降るのに、水道水は出ません。トイレ用に雨水バケツにためるかな。
6th Aug (400 days) no water for 5 days
It rained all day, but tap water doesn't flowing. I’ll try to store the rainwater with a basket for the toilet.
401日目、がちがちの背中
突然やって来た外来患者さんの評価と運動指導を頼まれました。30歳で慢性背部痛の神父さんは、筋肉の痛みで、寝た状態から足を上げることができません。これまでにも何人かいました。教会のお仕事もハードワークなのですね。

Suddenly, I was asked to do assessment and instruction of exercises for an outpatient. 30-years-old father who has chronic back pain can’t rise up his legs from lying position cause of muscle pain. There were some fathers like him. How hard the divine service is!
