100日目、アフリカ生活100日目
早いもので、ガーナに来て100日目となりました。
ガーナに来てよかった！と思った出来事。子どもたちが自分の理学療法を必要としてくれていると実感できたこと。
障害で自分の体をうまくコンロトールできなかった子が、何とか一人で立ち上がり、歩行器を使って好きなところに移動できるようになったこと。近くを通るといつも「ヒトミー、ハワユー」と言ってくれます。やっと来週、自宅に帰ります。今度はもっとうまく歩けるようになった彼に会えるといいなぁ。

100th day of African life
Time passes quickly, I have been in Ghana for 100 days.
An episode what I am really pleased to came to Ghana, I had a real feeling that children need my physical therapy.
One of the children who couldn't control his body movement became stand up himself and he was able to move everywhere he want to go with a walker. He always talks to me "Hitomi, How are you?", when I pass near his place. He will go back his home next week. I wish to meet him after he can walk better than now.
101日目、歩きたいという気持ち
脳性まひで歩けない7歳の男の子。足に過剰に力が入って膝が曲がってしまうので自分一人では立てません.だから立つのも歩くのも好きではなかったみたいです。今日は使われておらず放置されていた歩行器を試してみることにしました。膝下までのプラスチック装具を使って、立ってボール投げをした後、歩行器歩行に挑戦。少し押してあげるだけで歩くことができました。
お母さんにも介助方法を教えて一緒に歩くと笑顔になってくれました。「明日も練習する？」と聞くとうなずいてくれました。この気持ちが大事なんだよね。

Motivation I want to walk
7-years-old boy, he can't walk cause of cerebral palsy. His muscles of leg work too much and bend his knees, so that he can't stand himself, that's why he doesn't like standing and walking.
Today, I tried a walker that was leave as it is for him.
I put below knee plastic orthoses on his legs, and we throw a ball, after that tried walking with the walker. He could walk with a little assist to push it. Then, I told his mother how to assist. She smiled after walk with him. I asked him, "Will you walk tomorrow?" He nodded his head. This motivation is important!
102日目、道を歩けば子どもに当たる
ガーナには子どもがたくさんいます。夕飯を買いに行くため通りを歩いていると、「オブロニ―！」と子どもが話しかけてきます。立ち止まって話しかけると、その辺にいた子どもがみんな駆け寄ってきました。23人に囲まれ、「名前は何て言うの？」と連呼される。
ほんとガーナの子は人懐っこいわ。

I only have to walk around and it is sure to come across a child
We can see a lot of children in Ghana. While walking on a street to buy something to eat for dinner, children talked me "Obroni !" I stopped and talk with them. Then, all of children around there run to me. I was surrounded by 23 children and called "What is your name?" repeatedly! Ghanaian children are really like people.
103日目、半日停電
朝の10時に突然ファンが止まった。2～3日に1回くらいある停電です。すぐに復旧するだろうと安易に考えていたら、いつになっても復旧せず、そのまま日没。
暗闇の中、小さな懐中電灯をつけて夕飯を食べ、充電の残りを気にしながらパソコンで文書作り。もう寝てしまおうかと思った夜10時になってやっと電気がつきました。12時間の停電は、今までで最長記録です。電気ってありがたい。

Electricity off while half a day
A fan stopped at 10 a.m. Electricity is off once a few days. I think it would come soon. But it hadn't come and the sun set down.
In the darkness, I had a dinner with a small flashlight, been worried about battery charge and made a document with PC. I thought I have nothing to do without sleep, the electricity turn on at 10 p.m. It was set a longest record that the electricity off last for twelve hours.
I very much appreciate the electricity!!
104日目、学生には負けていられない！
脳性まひの10歳男の子。支えられて片足で立つことはできましたが、もう一方の足は膝の屈曲拘縮と尖足位での拘縮があり足底を床に着けることができません。装具をつけても体重がかけられる状態に矯正することが難しそうです。つかまり立ちはできるので、少し筋緊張を落とすことを目的に筋肉を長くする手術をして装具を着ければ立てるかもしれないと両親に伝えました。
学生の意見は、手術をしてもまた筋緊張が高まってしまうから装具を作った方がいいだろうとのこと。あの膝と内反尖足では体重を支えられそうにないんだけどなぁ。
とりあえず膝を伸展位にする夜間装具を作って経過観察することとなりました。
納得してもらうためには、英語でしっかり説明できるようにならなくちゃ

I want lose students
Ten-years-old boy is disabled by cerebral palsy. He can stand on one of his legs if someone support him, but another foot wasn’t put on a floor, cause of contracture of knee joint and severe spasticity. It is difficult to correct his foot that put his weight on his leg even if he uses an orthosis. That ankle as it is may not be able to put on the weight. He can stand when he use own hands. So I told his parents that he may be able to stand with an orthosis after surgery that extends his muscles to reduce muscle tones.
Students’ opinion is that first choice is orthosis, because his ankle will be back as it was before, because muscle tone is severe. I think that he will not put his weight on such a leg as his knee and tiptoe.
In conclusion, we make night splint for him and keep an eye on developments. I have to explain clearly in English to let them understand my opinion.
105日目、立派なバス
ガーナ人の足として、メジャーなのはトロトロという乗り合いバンです。しかし、我が任地からは、首都に行くMetro Mass Transitという大型バスもあります。25人くらい乗れるプラスチックの椅子が着いています。でもシステムは同じ。出発時間は未定です。
さて何十分後に出発したでしょう？
・・・。
・・・。
奇跡的に30分で出発！わーい！

Fine-looking bus
The major transportation is "trotro" for Ghanaian. But they have a large-size bus named Metro Mass Transit from my town to the capital. It has 25 chairs that made from plastic.
However system is the same. Leaving time is not fixed.
How many minutes later did the bus leave?
…
…
Miraculously, it departed after 30 minutes. Yay!
