Dissipative Structures and Irreversability in Nature: Celebrating the 100th Anniversary
of Ilya Prigogine's Birth
Dear Prof. Petrosky,
On the occasion of 100th birth Anniversary of Ilya Prigogine, Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science will be publishing a special issue titled: Dissipative Structures and Irreversibility in Nature: Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Iya Prigogine's Birth. Through this issue, we wish to provide an insightful overview and synthesis of the vibrant study of self-organization and nonlinear dynamics and the fundamental role of irreversible processes that Ilya Prigogine's emphasized throughout his work.
With this letter, we formally invite you to contribute an article to this Focus Issue of Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, to be published in October 2017.
This special issue will cover three broad areas: (i) Historical overview of thermodynamics of Onsager and Prigogine (ii) Dissipative structure and non-linear dynamics (iii) Foundations of irreversibility. Both review articles and papers presenting new results are welcome, as well as combinations of new and review. Since the aim is to make the subject accessible to a wide range of scientists, we ask that you make your contribution as didactic as possible. The style should conform to the Chaos author guidelines. Please be sure to write a lead paragraph—see the guidelines for more detail.
