A very busy job, two young children and scaling back on rugby training led to Portadown man Robert McClean piling on excess weight.
But instead of ignore it, Robert (31) 2 day diet new decided to tackle the weight gain head-on by accompanying his wife Alison to Slimming World classes.
Like most men, Robert, a front row prop with Portadown Rugby Club, initially felt unsure about joining what he saw like a women-only group, but his opinions soon changed.
He explained, "I was two-and-a-half stone overweight when I joined in February and also have lost two stone, two pounds. I probably need to lose another half a stone. I'm a lot more mobile now, and I am able to perform more with my children Daniel (2) and Charlotte (1).
"Alison has lost two stone. When we both weren't doing it we would take a backseat. I'm in classes most weeks - it offers a superior an assistance network then one to pay attention to throughout the week as you work at the weigh-in."
He added, "It's not really a hard intend to follow, only a matter of eliminating unhealthy things and cooking things in a different way. The load really did disappear me."
Robert says that while there aren't that many men in the Rugby Club class, more are joining constantly. "A couple weeks ago, three or four men joined. They do not get treated any differently. I do not see why losing weight should be a lady thing," he explained.
Surveys reveal that men are more likely 2 day diet strong than women to be obese or overweight. Based on Slimming World, men tend to slim down quicker than woman, because they have a higher muscle mass which burns more energy, giving them a higher metabolism.
