The 2016 Worlds are coming soon!
Boyang Jin - SP at the 2016 Four Continents Championships
Interview excerpt of Boyang Jin on Canon on November 29, 2015.
Q: Please tell us about your trade mark "quad lutz."
It is my favorite jump. My initial success with it was at the practice in 2013 when I was 17 years old. I had never thought about challenging it for a competition. Simply, I had continued to practice to make that jump.
Q: When was your first successful competition with it?
It was at the Nationals in the last season. However, I kind of stepped out on landing it that I did not feel any excitement or satisfaction.
Q: How many quad jumps can you make?
It will be three: toe loop, lutz, and salchow. My FS in this season consists of four quad jumps which include two toe loop, one salchow and one lutz.
Q: Is there any plan for having a quad loop and flip?
No. I need to maintain stability for the three quad jumps I have so far. If I could, then I will prepare for the other two jumps.
Q: In terms of FS, your jumps at the NHK Trophy were more successful rather than the Cup of China. Was there any difference?
It might be because of self-possession. I kept having it during performing the SP at the NHK Trophy. As the result, I received 95.0 scores. I wish I can perform every program with having it in my mind. But, for the FS at that competition, there were many small mistakes. Even though I could execute the most of technical elements, I found what I needed to work on. I am going to do more practice to perform good FS.
Q: How is your school and personal life?
I have been practicing daily. Sundays are off days. But I am not the one to go out. Instead, I spend the time to rest my body. Since I go to the University for sport, my main study is about practicing.
Q: What will be a theme for your practice?
It will be about improving my PCS scores for the future. I know it will take a time though. For this season, the first year of senior, I have been focusing on maintain a stable quad lutz to gain self-assurance.
Q: Do you have any plan for working on your artistry?
I have learned ballet and jazz dance from once to twice a week. For artistry, I think that it is important to be expressive and perform with emotions.
Q: You had a great senior debut. Has it changed your goal in the future?
I began to hope to stand the podium at the GP final in December. Then, I want to be on the podium for the Olympic games in 2018 and 2022.
