Women are ambitious
I guess those female skaters trying to make a difficult jump basically feel the same way as Meissner. They know they can do it. That's why they want to keep doing it! Maybe, the bottom line is simple like that. They don't have to be addicted to do it though.
Anyway, if Hicks could make the quad, her challenge would contribute to development for figure skating world, too.

"Some of my great achievements are probably, you know, not medals. It's not as important to me to have them up there. I know grand of my gold hanging on my wall. And when I was younger, that was, they really just to get all the different medals. As I get older, it's more a feeling of accomplishment from doing something. I guess I really learned that. You know, medals are not as important. At the end of the day it's cool to have it when you're standing there at the podium. Maybe when coming to the home, you hang it on the wall. But at least from doing this I get a chance to ever be called for a few different charities so I can get a chance to kind of make a difference for somebody."

-Kimmie is the second American woman to land a triple axel since Tonya Harding in 1991.
"Triple Axel is basically three and a half rotations. No women really do it. It takes a lot of power and it takes a wild for getting a consistence. Mainly it's a guy jump. For women to do it, it's a big deal...and I did it."
This is a beautiful program from Kimmie Meissner. As it was choreographed by Nikolai Morozv, I wonder if he would create a classical program for Alena Leonova. Is he going to change Leonova's presentation?
