LOVE FOR FIGURE SKATING AND MUSIC

フィギュアスケート、映画、好きなものについてまったり書いています。

These events took place last weekend. I am so behind!!!

Flatt's new SP was very cool. "She's been known as a technician and not a performer well. That's changed." I agree!!

And Johnny Weir's speech inspired me a lot!

Johnny Weir-Readers' choice award

Since 1989 Skating Magazine, the official publication of U.S. figure skating, has presented the readers' choice award for skater of the year Michelle Kwan Trophy. Voting was conducted on line at usfigureskating.org. Skating magazine readers voted for eligible skaters they feel the most deserving of the award based on the accomplishment of the past season. This year's recipient is just a second repeat winner of the award. During 2009 - 2010 campaign, he won a silver medal at NHK trophy and a bronze medal at grand prix final. His bronze medal finish at 2010 AT&T US championships in Spokane, Washington earned this skating icon a second trip to the Olympic winter games in Vancouver. There he dazzled the world with his artistry and athleticism and root to a 6th place finish. Ladies and gentleman, the winner of this year's readers' choice award for skater of the year Michelle Kwan Trophy is Johnny Weir.

-Hi Johnny, how does it feel to be the only 2nd time winner besides Michelle Kwan at this award.

It's fantastic. I owe everything in my career to my fans and the fact they voted all over the world so massively. It makes me feel so loved and very much like a champion.

-I know it's going to be a busy year for you off the ice. But, seeing Ryan Bradley who is not that different in age from you performed the other night. Has it inspired you in any way?

Are you calling us old?

-A little, ish

Ish. No, the whole event inspired me so much. I got to see some of them when I was packing to come here actually. And Ryan Bradley was incredible and I texted him and after I said "gorgeous." And I was so proud and having him represent sort of my generation and be so strong is incredible to see.

-So many young skating fans are there really look to you for inspiration, is there a message you can give them or something you felt when you were coming up

Always believe in yourself and never be afraid to fall down. I know there are lots of skaters in the building watching this event right now and many more at home. And I'm so proud of everything I have accomplished. I'm so proud of everything that ended I have won and I have lost. And I can stand here be happy and be excited about it. Because I did everything on my own terms. I want skaters of the futures never to feel pressure to merchandised door, told what to do, who would be, what to skate to, what not to wear. I want everyone to believe in themselves and love themselves. And stand here in 10 years will be a proud of what they've gotten.
