四十九年 一睡の夢 一期の栄華 一盃の酒
上杉謙信
Fourty-Nine years of my life
Seems just one night dream
Any glory, prosperity... just same worht as one cup of sake
(no eternaless)
My life passed by like a flash
(That's my translation, so it is not accurate interpretation.)
Uesugi Kenshin is a very famous feudel warloard in Japan.
He was devout Buddhist.
I could not find any English translation of his poem, but
this is also my favorite one.(I hope I can find the book
translating Japanese poem from Japanese
to English some day..)
There is no perfect life.
Everyone, even the winners, will die some day.
Any glory and prosperity are only temporary.
That's why I would like to live my life as much as I wanna do.
