Hello guys, it is Tokiwa, a language partner of Global Lounge.
I’m so excited to kick off our blog as the opener! This time I’d like to introduce my top 5 favorite artists.
Kendrick Lamar
He is a rapper from Compton, California, who grew up in an environment surrounded by many gangs around him. However, he never joined them and he never made any excuses for his personal circumstances. The lyrics he writes are so powerful that often remind me of rebellious spirits. Also, most of his tracks are constructed by so many sounds like electronics, chorus, even piano, violine, etc. Once you listen to his song, you cannot stop bobbing your head and vibe with the track.

Joji
Joji was from an international school in Osaka during his childhood. Before he starts his activity as “Joji”, he was called “Pink guy” but I keep away from this for now, for some reason...lol. He creates chill songs expressing the sorrow of insecure guy. I think he sings about his internal anxiety, which resonates with me. Most of his songs have such a slow tempo that even English learners can easily understand the lyrics. To be poetic, sometimes I really feel like stabbing my ears and stirring my brain with sticks - which means Joji’s song.

Die for you
Daniel Caesar
Daniel Caesar is an R&B singer who mainly sings about people’s weaknesses, vulnerability, insecurity, and other similar themes. He sometimes sings pure love songs like “Best part”
which almost everyone has heard once at least. The song I really want you to listen to is “Blessed”
To sum up its lyrics, even if the relationship sometimes gets unhealthy, I can’t be anywhere without you because we always need each other. Whenever I listen to it, it makes me feel like crying, even though I rarely cry. I believe that many people can feel related to this song.
Tyler, the creator
The only word I can think of to describe how good his songs are is genius. His songs are made of so many beautiful sounds. He often produces rap songs, but some of his songs are like old R&B, and some sound new. I want to recommend “Darling, I”
which is 90s R&B alike. It’s kind of a love song, but some people don’t like it because he sings about how beautiful it is to meet new people rather than just staying with one person in love because ‘forever is too long’ to do so.
SEE YOU AGAIN
Billie Eilish
She is one of the most famous artists in the world as you know. Since she needs no introduction, I’d like to talk about my favorite songs of her.. I don’t know why, but I like “Ilomilo”
I don’t really listen to it so many, but sometimes I want to listen to this such a quirky song. Also, I often listen to “When the party’s over”
when the day comes to an end. This song has a melancholic melody and lyrics that feel like something welling up from deep inside.
Listening to music really helps you get used to English, so I suggest starting with slower songs.
This was my top 5 favorite artists!!
I hope you enjoyed, Thank you for reading.
