Snow Rime

Today we had beautiful winter scenery because of soft rime.

Usually snow is very dry in Finland and you cannot make snow balls.

So, having soft rime is not so usual here.

Christmas in Dubai

We spent Christmas in Dubai and enjoyed warm weather and enough sunlight.

Dubai was an interesting place. I've never seen a suspended development in such a large scale.

Dune bashing was the most interesting experience in this trip.

It was so beautiful. It's only 1 hour car drive from central Dubai. Taking motion sickness medicine in advance is recommended for those who get motion sickness easily.

Snow light

Earlier, I didn't understand why local people say they want snow in winter time, but now I agree that snow brings light to the dark, grey, depressive winter scenery.

Sun rises at 9:22 and sets at 15:12. Length of day is 5 h 50 min.

In the long winter, the toughest thing is the darkness, not the cold temperature.

Slippery sidewalk

Winter came back and it started to be cold again. I would say cold temperature is okay (not nice though) but icy and slippery sidewalk is very annoying. But it looks like it doesn't bother local people at all. When I see kids enjoying sliding like skating on the icy road on purpose, I somehow feel insulted. I just walk at their half speed and continue to be careful. ;-P

Rice cooker

As Japanese rice cookers that you can get here in Finland are very expensive and are a bit old models, I bought one from Japan by Rakuten Int'l develivery service. I'm quite happy with the one I got. :)
