The war in Ukraine has now entered its fiftieth month, with no end in sight. Many people, myself included, long for this senseless conflict to be brought to an end as soon as possible.Yet the harsh reality is that no one seems capable of stopping a war that so clearly violates international law and the United Nations Charter. The United Nationsーan institution meant to safeguard global order and peaceーhas fallen into dysfunction, and meaningful discussions on reform  have scarcely begun. This is hardly surprising:Russia, a permanent member of the Security Council and therefore a guardian of the UN Charter, has not only launched a war that contradicts the very principles it is supposed to uphold, but also wields its veto power to block any resolutions unfavorable to itself. Other permanent members likewise invoke the veto when their national interests are threatened. This veto system has become a major obstacles to the UN's effective functioning, yet altering it appears exceedingly difficult. The reform process has been further hindered by the UNーskeptical stance of the Trump administration.
The origins of this structural paralysis lie in the UN's founding.Established after World War Ⅱby the victorious powers, the organization has long been shaped by the vested interests of the permanent members, who remain reluctant to pursue institutional reform despite dramatic changes in global circurmstances.Meanwhile,

the world faces a host of challenges on a planetary scaleーglobal warming, conflicts and wars, infectious deseases, refugees, poverty and widening inequlity. These problems cannot be solved by individual nations acting alone;global cooperation and coordinated action have become indispensable.Yet humanity has still not built a unified system capable of preventing even wars that inflict misery on millions.

Despite the fact that the war in Ukraine is an unjust war, many countries continue to side with the aggressor,Russia.A conflict in which justice does not prevail has persisted for fifty months. If humanity truly possesses reason and wisdom,it must bring this war to an end without delay. But as noted ealier, leaving the matter solely to public institutions and political leaders will not improve the current sistuation.
This is why we must turn to ordinary citizens who share common values. Anyone who  considers themselves a defender of justice should continue to raise their voice loudly in opposition to the war in Ukuraine. Silence is tantamount to condoning the conflict.People living today must stand up and take action so that future generations will not condemn us for our inaction. Those who feel the injustice most keenly should take the lead in speaking out, allowing their voices to spread like wildfire. It is true that some countries impose strict controls on free speech or lack access to the internet, but if the movement grows large enough, its message will eventually reach even those places. These voices must then be conveyed to political leaders and relevant institutions, helping to build momentum for reforming the  United Nations and contributing to the creation of a rational and ideal global system ーone capable of protecting world peace and order.
