春の訪れからずいぶん経ちますが
４月になって、やっと今年初のツーリングです 
５月には、ＢＳＴＲ2026で四国ロングツーリングが控えてます。
その前に、身体とバイクのウォームアップですね

今回はマスツーリング
京丹波町の和知周辺の林道を巡ります。
ここんとこソロツーばかりだったので、ワクワクですわぁ

珍らしく、渋滞が一つもなく集合場所に到着。
集合時刻の1時間も前についてしまった 
ま、時間に追われるよりイイよね 
コンビニコーヒー飲みながらのんびり。
すがすがしい気候、良い天気。。。
あぁ、この時間、最高～

早めに切り上げることも考えよう 
今日のメンバーさんも、つぎつぎ早めに到着します
まずはセローの２台。
個人的な好みですが、
ランツァとセローのスタイリングってサイコーにカッチョエエと思うんですよ

モディファイ効いた車体に興味津々。
KXL125はむちゃくちゃコンパクトで魅力的 
昔125ccに乗っていたときは獣道アタックして遊んでたので『こういうのも欲しいなぁ』と思ってしまいます。
私が乗ると『クマの曲芸
』みたいになるんだろうけど。。。（笑）
さて、おしゃべりはこの辺にして
いざ林道へスタートです
ここ和知エリアは、距離もそこそこ長くて、初心者〜中級者が楽しめる林道が多いので、京都北部でも人気の林道地帯なのです。
まず最初は、集合場所からほど近い林道をチョイス
この林道の魅力は、荒れたところもほぼゼロで走りやすいトコロ
ピストンですが、シーズン始まりの足慣らしにぴったりです
続いて 6Kmほど移動して2本目
和知方面では最も有名であろう林道を走ります
但し、２年前の土砂崩から一部が走れないので、途中の林道から入ります

Nature’s dead end.
今回は、この林道との結節点から見ても倒木が道を塞いでいるのが判る

復興させる気がないように思えました
気を取り直して林道を突き進みます
定番ですが、”鉄塔広場”で昼食ターイム 
Lunch break at the tower clearing—always a relaxing spot.
ここは、見晴らしが良くて『ケツに根が生えそう』なポイント
ソロでくるときは"お昼寝タイム"してしまうくらいの危険な場所です 
『山ん中でおっさんが寝転がっている』に遭遇したら。。。
キャー、怖い 
コチラは1年前に訪問した時。 モチロン昼寝慣行（笑）

昼食後はこの先の林道に突き進みます。
今日一番のハラハラポイント
崩落箇所、バイク１台幅しか道がない
落ちたらタダでは済みません
昨年のショット、今回と全く変わってません、復旧する気配なし

一緒のメンバーさんも難なくクリア 
今回のメンバーさんなら余裕で大丈夫ですが、林道初見の方は無理せずUターン推奨です。
その後、
別の長い林道を一本走ったところで、作戦会議
雲行きが怪しくなってきたので"解散"となりました。

午前中の青空はどこへやら。。。雲と風が出てきて早めの解散っ！
って事で、今回の林道ツーリングはこれにて終了
予定していた林道の全走破とはなりませんでしたが、最高に楽しい林道マスツーでした
ご一緒いただいた皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。
走りだけではなくて、たくさんのお話しができてマジで楽しかったぁ

Spring Warm‑up: Off‑Road Group Touring in Wachi, Kyoto
Spring is well underway, and my first touring ride of 2026 has finally arrived.
This ride also serves as a warm‑up for both my body and my bike before the big event in May—the BSTR2026 Shikoku Challenge.
We departed at 7:30 AM for a group off‑road tour in the Wachi area of Kyotamba, Kyoto.
Even as a veteran rider (an “old man,” as I like to call myself), I still feel that mix of excitement and nervousness before a group ride.
I arrived at the meeting point an hour early and enjoyed a quiet convenience‑store coffee in the refreshing morning air. A small but blissful moment.
The lineup of bikes was impressive.
I always get excited when I see classics like the Serow and the Lanzer.
In the old photo, the two bikes shown are also favorites of mine—the green KDX200SR on the right was once my beloved machine.
There was also a CRF250 Rally equipped with Technix suspension and custom guards.
Seeing so many uniquely modified bikes was fascinating.
The compact KLX125 brought back memories of riding narrow game trails years ago.
Our tour began with beginner‑friendly forest roads—perfect for warming up at the start of the season.
Next, we moved on to a more famous route, though part of it had been severely damaged by a landslide two years ago.
Seeing fallen trees completely blocking the road was a stark reminder of how quickly nature can reclaim a trail.
Lunch was at “Steel Tower Square,” a spot with such an amazing view that you could easily stay there forever.
It’s actually my favorite napping place when I’m on a solo ride!
We also passed through a thrilling section where the road had collapsed, leaving only enough width for a single bike.
One wrong move would have meant a serious fall.
As the sky darkened and the wind picked up, we decided to turn back before the rain arrived.
We couldn’t complete the full planned route, but the conversations and the ride itself gave us exactly the energy we needed.

Now I’m fully recharged—and ready to ride across Shikoku!
🎌 Fun Japanese Phrases to Know
1. 林道（Rindō）
Literally “forest road.”
In Japan, it refers to unpaved mountain roads—perfect playgrounds for off‑road riders.
2. マスツー（Masu-tsū）
Short for “mass touring,” meaning a group ride.
It captures the fun of riding with friends, chatting, and sharing the adventure.
3. 足慣らし（Ashi-narashi）
A warm-up or “shake‑down” ride.
Riders use this term for a light trip to check their physical condition and gear before a major challenge.
4. 倒木（Tōboku）
“Fallen trees.”
A common obstacle on Japanese forest roads—sometimes blocking the entire path.
5. 崩落（Hōraku）
“Road collapse” or “landslide damage.”
A word every off‑road rider in Japan becomes familiar with sooner or later.
6. ピストン（Piston）
A Japanese riding slang meaning an “out‑and‑back route.”
You ride to the end of the trail, then return the same way.
7. 鉄塔広場（Tettō Hiroba）
“Steel Tower Clearing.”
A nickname riders use for open spaces under transmission towers—often great spots for breaks or lunch.
8. ケツに根が生える（Ketsu ni ne ga haeru）
Literally “your butt grows roots.”
A humorous way to say a place is so relaxing you don’t want to leave.
9. 獣道（Kemonodō）
“Game trail” or “animal trail.”
Narrow, rugged paths that only small bikes—or brave riders—can tackle.
10. クマの曲芸（Kuma no kyokugei）
Literal translation: “A bear’s circus act.”
A humorous, self‑deprecating phrase used by a larger rider when riding a very small motorcycle (like a 125cc).
11. ハラハラ（Hara‑hara）
A Japanese onomatopoeia for feeling nervous or being in suspense.
Perfect for describing the tension of navigating a narrow, collapsed cliffside path.
12. マスツーリング（Masu Touring）
The full term for group touring.
In everyday conversation, Japanese riders shorten it to “Masu‑tsū.”
13. おっさん（Ossan）
A casual, self‑deprecating way to say “middle‑aged guy.”
Used humorously, as the author does, to describe himself.
14. おやっさんは今日も山へ（Oyassan wa kyō mo yama e）
The author’s signature hashtag.
