Had a Japanese noodle called "toshikoshi soba", which means the noodle for welcoming the new year. Since toshikoshi soba is very long, people eat this dishes on New Year's Eve, wishing their longer lives and longer family's luck. This custom is called to begin in edo period(1603-1863) and still lasts in 21st century.
I dishes it up in a luckered japan ware. I like the contrast of red inside and black outside very much. Very traditional but modern at the same time. I put the nandin and pine which is considered as a sacred plants in the vase.
