The Cell Theory

The Cell Theory States the followings:

- All living things are composed of one or more cells

- The cell is the smallest entity that remains the properties of life

- New cells arise only from cells that already exist

The Basic Cell Structure

Cells are composed of a nucleus and cytoplasm bound by a cell membrane.

- the nucleus is the control center of the cell

- it contains chromosomes, genes, DNA, and RNA

- it directs cell division and the formation of cell structures

- the cell membrane forms the boundary of the cell

- it is composed of proteins and lipids. It is selectively permeable

- the cytoplasm is where the work of the cell is done
