Scagliola is a traditional plastering technique. Put simply, scagliola has the appearance of marble. The technique is reputed to date from the ancient Egyptians, but saw a renaissance in Europe and in particular Italy, in the 18th century.

Scagliola is produced by mixing carefully sourced plaster with powdered dyes and pigments and then burnished. I have spent many hours developing traditional skills and constituents with my own new ideas. The completed work rivals porcelain in polish, is lighter than marble and is available in many colours and unique effects - the finished product looks fantastic.

Scagliola can be cast into many forms making it the most impressive form of plaster work. Fine examples are to be found in Buckingham Palace, The Reform Club, Syon House and Tatton Park. The staircase and stairwell of the Reform Club, London is one of the best examples of scagliola to be used on an architectural scale. The early 19th century work has stood the test of time and has been used as a location for many films. The lining of the main staircase was made on site using grinding stones from across Europe to achieve a high gloss finish. My work is usable, collectable and above all beautiful. Owners will cherish it for years to come.
