We can offer them at what I call true discount or outlet pricing. That student who is starting at the career center and has to wear scrubs all week or maybe a resident aide at a nursing home, they can come in here and get a lot of bang for their buck in the outlet.I always think competition is good. It keeps us on our toes. The thing about the scrub industry is that it's a fashion industry. Most of the major manufacturers will offer a spring, summer, fall line with new colors and new styles. We work very hard on product selection as far as knowing our market and knowing what our customer base wants.
We try to have that in our store and we have to have competitive pricing too. I think having another competitor in town makes us sharper to stay in tune with that and make sure we're always providing the latest, the greatest and the best at a reasonable price to our customer.Retail has moved that way quite a bit. With online shopping they can shop at work or at midnight from home. I still think there's a place for brick and mortar especially in the apparel industry because people want to try it on and see how things fit. Especially with the style and the fashion that has evolved into scrubs — It's a fashion.
Our customers like to try it on, look at it and see if it fits. If they buy online they can't do that, or we do some special ordering and we bring it in. We don't charge them any shipping. They can come in and try it on. Even if they take it home and try it on and bring it back to the store a day or a week later, we provide a no hassle return or exchange.I think there are a lot of people who do like to buy local. I think Jackson is a community, for the most part, with people who like to support their own community.
