Some of the songs we get to rock out on and some are so quiet and intimate and sweet. It really runs the gamut.” Deciding what songs to play was a challenge, he said. “It’s not just a typical tribute show. I don’t pretend to be Paul. It’s more telling a story. We sort of carved out the narrative of his life and how his writing changed and how he was influenced and how my life was impacted in a similar way,” he said. “So the audience will get to know me a little too. We’re able to fit the songs in a narrative arc. Hopefully the songs will have even more of a meaning for folks because they have context.” I’m really proud of it. There’s something for everybody,” he said. “If you want to hear a good story, you’ll get that. If you want to learn more about Paul McCartney and The Beatles, you’ll get that. If you just want to hear some awesome songs, you’ll obviously get that because he didn’t write any clunkers.”
