Rouge One is an another story of Star Wars, which describes a prequel of episode 4 “New Hope” (’77). In that sense, it is supposed to be a part of SW saga, however, because of absence of the Skywalkers, the story is independent from main stream of the saga.
The episode goes with a unique squad centered on Jyn Erso, a renegade girl whose scientist father had forcibly been a project leader of building Death Star. Jyn knew that her father secretly embedded a crucial weak point in the core of the Star, so she tried to steal its plan from her enemy.
In the end, she obtained the secret plan and successfully transmitted to rebellion group. Unfortunately, however, Jyn’s party includes herself, lost their lives one to the other in the fierce battle with Empire’s army. And the planet Scariff was destroyed by super laser beam from Death Star.
