To expand my knowledge and curiosity on Western paintings, I have read “Art Comic: The History of Western Art”. It is an introductory book, mainly written for children to cultivate their curiosity on Arts, also useful for any adults who want to study how to appreciate arts in the past. In the book, the author picked up lives of painters, described how they developed their art pieces based on historical facts and background. From today’s viewpoint, the characters in the book are seemed to be “Titans of Art”, however, if we look into their lives closely, we find that each one of them was a person who had feelings like us. Some were poor for most of their lives and some were not recognized in their age. For sure, however, all of them had pursued truth of their lives and ages through field of art. Art was the only way for them to express their identity – who they really were.
