It had been put to the exam earlier this year, by experts at London South Bank University's Sport and Exercise Science Research Centre. They recruited 34

volunteers whose exercise routine was nothing more than a leisurely walk. Of that number, 24 followed a 28-day Walkactive plan as the remaining 10, who'd

comparable amounts of activity and fitness were monitored like a control group.

Dr Darren James, who led the study, confirms: "Walking speed increased within the Walkactive group by 23 per cent. All of these participants reported that

their level of physical activity had increased since getting involved in the study, whereas no control group reported this."

Ninety-six per cent from the Walkactive participants reported improvement to their general wellbeing since starting the research but none within the control

group noticed any change.

After 28 days, the Walkactive group had significant reductions in body mass (two per cent), estimated excess fat percentage (three per cent) as well as in

the skinfold measurement in the waist (15 percent).

Dr James says: "Participants walked taller following a 28-day plan: their centre of mass vertical displacement was significantly greater than pre-

intervention measurements because of improved posture and skeletal alignment.

"Correspondingly, ground forces during the single-limb support phase of walking were significantly lower, causing noticeable reductions within the force

experienced in the knee and ankle joints."

Everyone on the La Manga camp I joined had their own success story. We were all walking much taller and trimmer but other bonuses included improved balance,

better core strength, improved lung capacity and recovery.

Using a history of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, fortunately in remission, I had been conscious of occasional twinges in knees and hips however they have

disappeared since taking on Walkactive and I also have noticed a significantly greater range of movement and strength in the ankle I broke almost 10 years

ago.

If you want to maximise weight loss, Joanna adds some good sense suggestions -- be careful about your portion sizes; eat more protein and healthy fats for

example omega-3 as they make us feel full Zi Xiu Tang Pollen Capsule
for extended; and impose a "carb curfew" with no bread, potatoes or pasta after 5pm.

But there's you don't need to feel deprived. I've seen the scales slowly move the proper way without giving up roast potatoes cooked in goose fat, sticky

toffee puddings and a glass or two, of wine.
