ブログネタ:花火大会、行く予定ある? 参加中At week before last weekend, I went down to
Toledo, OH to see Detroit Tigers' farm team
called Mudhens play.
It was my first time to actually see a Minor league
baseball game. I mean, c'mon, if you are going to pay,
don't you rather go see Major league baseball game than
the minors?!
Toledo is actually closer than the up north place
I have, which is near by Gaylord. The trip down to Toledo
only took us about an hour. It's funny to think that
to go some place within the state is further than
going down to some different states!
Anyways, I didn't know anything about mudhens, but
it was a pleasant surprise to see farm team of the
NY yankees came up to play against them! As a
future home state, I was excited to cheer for the
Yankees.
Although, my pals are all there to cheer for the
future Tigers, aka Mudhens. I mean, to me even the name
doesn't set right, "hens" are for the female chickens,
and of course, there's no female players in Minor league or
Major league baseball, so why would they name themselves
"hens"?! Couldn't they at least pick Rooster or something?!
The future Tigers doesn't seem to promise much. They had been
playing just like the Tigers would play, although I have to admit
that the Tigers are doing well this year. But on that same day,
they had lost against Cleavland a big time, even though
they had been using the Ace pitcher of the year, Verlander!
Anyways, just as we've seen in so many of the Tigers game,
the mudhens loaded up the base, but they seem that they
are incapable of bringing in the runners home. When they had
loaded bases, they only brought in one, and the one that got
home wasn't even by their own work, but because of the walk
that the opponent pitcher gave! The rest was usual,
pop out, fly out and grounded out, boom boom boom,
3 outs you go! I guess apple doesn't fall from a far is
indeed right!
Now, on the Top of the 8th, future yanks had loaded
their bases. They indeed act like the junior version of
the historical team, NY Yankees! Once they loaded the base,
the batter hit the grand slam homer to clear up the bases!
4 points gain, and down the mud hens went.
After the game, as a ballpark traditional fireworks had begun.
Just like the Tigers, even the home team loses, they'll offer
some fireworks on the evening games on Fridays and Saturdays!
I thought I taped the fireworks but apparently I forgot to push
the recording button for the first 5 min. or so.
The fireworks weren't that glamorous, but it was pretty nice.
