My character Zen, a beloved gay protagonist, would be thrilled his star rose during PRIDE MONTH.
As a staunch ally, I have never courted the LGBTQ+ community as a way to launch a writing career or gain notoriety. I write MM fiction because I feel more comfortable writing about males. To quote my author bio, I color outside the lines. I am a minority, a majority, of me.
Let's get this out of the way, darling readers of Yaoi & its fatal detractors. Zen & Xaviour are not seme/uke Yaoi standardized cliches. Zen is a unicorn, a peacock, a swan of iconic male grace, elegance, & inner radiance rarely feted in literature & pop culture. Shine on, men like Zen, with ever so soft, willowy qualities, the artistically enthusiastic males in our midst.
Ah, Xaviour. An over-the-top stereotype of faux bro culture. The man becomes enriched, emboldened & perfected by the power of Zen. Humans have a shape-shifting superpower to evolve into better beings. Xaviour is no exception.
The Power of Zen Saga is frank, brutal, graphic and unapologetic because Dystopian realms, imaginary or real, are the blur of a Ferris Wheel spinning. Painted ponies going nowhere are all a villain sees when he looks through a cracked kaleidoscope.
In closing, I write to no specific demographic. The agenda is entertainment. Let me entertain you with fears, tears, silliness and the deepest sublime.
Thanks for your stupendous support.
