このブログは、わたしとわたしの日本語生徒ジョンさんとの授業を
毎回テキストにしたもの。
日本語はすべてひらがな、英語は直訳のため、ちょっとおかしいです 笑
ジョンさんはハワイ在住の７０代のおじいちゃん。
日系二世で職業はライター。毎回アロハシャツを着て、いつもニコニコ。
画面越しからでもハワイの緩やかな雰囲気が伝わってくる、そんなひと。
毎回の授業に自分で考えた物語を作ってきてくれます。
そして簡単な日本語に私が直しながらレッスンをしているのですが、彼の作る文章がとても気持ちが良く、いつか私の周りの人たちも読むことができたらいいなと、おもってブログにのせてみました。
彼は、昔小学校の先生をしていたこともあり、子供が喜ぶ文体で書くのが得意。
内容もとても緩やか。すべての子どもたちが、平等で公平に存在していていいんだよ。といってくれている、そんな温かい物語です。
そして、彼の文章はなぜかエゴがないのです。とても気分が良くなります。
ぜひハワイの景色を想像しながら読んでください。
そしてそして
私たちの小さな夢は、この文章をいつか日本とハワイで絵本にすること。
そんなことができたらいいね、とジョンさんと笑いながらいつも授業をするのです。
John is a man in his 70s living in Hawaii. He is a second-generation Japanese-American and works as a writer. He always wears an aloha shirt, has a big smile, and even through the screen, you can feel the relaxed vibe of Hawaii from him.
Every lesson, he brings a story he’s written himself. During the lesson, I help him correct the Japanese to make it simpler. His writing is so delightful that I thought it would be wonderful if others could read it too, so I decided to share it on this blog.
He used to be an elementary school teacher, so he has a knack for writing in a way that children love. His stories are very gentle and convey a warm message that all children are equal and deserve to exist fairly.
His writing has a unique quality—it lacks any sense of ego, which makes it feel very refreshing. Please imagine the beautiful scenery of Hawaii as you read.
And one more thing:
Our small dream is to someday turn these stories into a picture book in both Japan and Hawaii. We always laugh and talk about how amazing it would be if we could make that happen.
