You can help PangeaSeed on the road to the COP10!
2010 has been declared the International Year of Biodiversity by the United Nations with the 10th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10) to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan October 11-29. Over 8,000 people from more than 193 countries and regions will meet at the COP10, the world's leading environmental conference, to find ways to preserve biodiversity and other environmental resources and sharks will be a key topic at the convention. As a group, sharks represent the greatest percentage of threatened marine species on the IUCN Red List. With Japan reporting an annual catch of 32,500 tons of sharks, we feel our presence is necessary at the conference. For more information: www.cop10.jp
PangeaSeed has been invited to host an information booth during the two week conference. We are attempting to send a small team of volunteers in hopes to raise much need public awareness regarding the global shark plight.
