If you walk further to the north from Gioji Temple, you will be in the historical area, named "Saga-Toriimoto". You will see a couple of historical buildings with white clayey walls.

Many souvenir shops, museums and Japanese restaurants are located along the street. This area is named "Saga-Toriimoto". The area prospered by agricultural and forest industries in the Muromachi Age (1336 - 1573) .

In the Edo Age (1603 - 1868) , many people visited Atago Shrine, located on Mt. Atago to the west. This area also prospered in the Edo Age. As walking down the street, the scenery became countrified.

The Saga-Toriimoto Preservation Museum is located along the street.
The museum was originally built as a house in the late nineteenth century.

Near the Saga-Toriimoto Preservation Museum, there is a bridge crossing over Saga-Toriimoto Town.
From the bridge, you will see the town view of Saga-Toriimoto.

Tiled roofs along the street are very beautiful.
Beyond the bridge, it is in the mountain area.
There are also a couple of houses with a straw-thatched roof.

At the end of Saga-Toriimoto, there is another Japanese Restaurant.
It is "Hiranoya". They also serve sweetfish cuisine and sweetfish "Sushi".

A shop curtain and a scarlet felt mat are very impressive.

Saga-Toriimoto is designated as an important preservation district of historic buildings.
If you further walk from "Hiranoya", you will soon arrive at Otagi-Nenbutsuji Temple.
