Izushi is a small castle town, located in the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture.
At the root of Mt. Ariko, Izushi Castle was built in 1604.

During the Edo Age (1603-1868), Izushi was the capital of Izushi Domain.

If you walk from the Izushi Bus Stop to the town, you will find a "Samurai" residence, named "Karo Yashiki".
This historical house used to be a retainer's house of the Izushi Domain.

The house is open for the public with 200 Yen of admission fee.

If you walk further to the east, you will see a bridge and a gate on your right.
This is the entrance of the ruins of Izushi Castle.
The downtown Izushi is located in the the other side of Izushi castle.
The Shinkoro Tower is the landmark and symbol of Izushi. This tower was built in 1871.

The Shinkoro Tower is located at the site of third bailey of the Izushi castle.
To the North of the tower, you will see a moat of Izushi Castle.

Many people walked on the main street, near the Shinkoro Tower, You will see Mt. Ariko.
The atmosphere in Izushi was very calm and peace.

In Downtown Izushi, there are many "Soba" restaurants.
"Soba" is a well-known product in Izushi. When you visit Izushi, please not forget to taste "Soba", there.

Izushi had a serious fire damage in 1876, but still remains the historical atmosphere.
In 2009, Izushi was designated as a Conservation District of Traditional Buildings.
