Otaki is a small town and is located in the middle of Boso Peninsula.
Otaki used to be a castle town during the Edo Age (1603 - 1868) .
In 1590, HONDA Tadakatsu (1548 - 1610) , who was a vessel of the first Shogun, TOKUGAWA Ieyasu, built Otaki Castle and the castle town in Otaki.

If you walk to the east from Otaki Station on the Isumi Railway, you will reach to the main street in Otaki.
On your right at the first corner, WATANABE Residence is located.
The old house was built in 1849 and is designated as an important property of Japan.

If you walk further to the south, the main street tuns to the right.
After turning to the right, you will see a Japanese "Sake" brewery.
The store curtain, which was displayed in front of the "Sake" store, was very impressive.

From the "Sake" brewery, I walked to "Ryogenji" Temple.
On the way, an old Japanese-style hotel is located.
Agricultural fields extend over the area south of the hotel.
You will see the Otaki Castle on your right, beyond agricultural fields.

Otaki Castle is the landmark of this town.

Finally, you will arrive at "Ryogenji" temple.
"Ryogenji" temple was built in 1590 by HONDA Tadakatsu and became the family temple of HONDA clan.

Otaki is a small town and remains historical atmosphere during the Edo Age.
It wiould be nice to make a one-day trip from Tokyo together with train rides on the Isumi Railway and the Kominato Railway.
