Nakamachi is a Preservation District in Hirosaki City Aomori Prefecture, located to the north of Hirosaki Castle.
This area remains "Buke Yashiki", the residences of retainers of the TSUGARU Clan,
the lord of Hirosaki Domain, in the Edo Age (1603 - 1868) .
A covered alley, called "Gangi" or "Komise", remain along a busy street.
The covered alley was built for pedestrian to walk without suffering from snow falling
or accumulated snow in winter.
"Samurai", the retainers of the TSUGARU Clan lived in this area.
Hedges of "Samurai" residences line along a small street.
Two residences are open for the public.
This district is designated as the important preservation district of historical buildings.

「こみせ」と呼ばれる雁木造りのアーケードや生垣に覆われた武家屋敷など
