In the Edo Age, Kanazawa was the capital of Kaga Domain with one million koku of rice.
MAEDA Family governed Kaga domain during the EDO Age and was the second largest feudal lord
after TOKUGAWA Family.

As Kanazawa was not destroyed at the World-War II, a couple of historical districts remain in the city.
Higashi Chaya District, "Higashi-Chayamachi", is one of the typical and most popular historical district in Kanazawa City.

Square space is located at the entrance of Higashi Chaya District.
If you turn at the corner of the square space, you are in the heart of Higashi Chaya District
with remaining the atmosphere in the Edo Age.

茶屋は、江戸時代の上流町人や文人達の娯楽の場として、
琴や三味線、舞や茶の湯といった文化が育った
粋な遊びの場所だったようです。

加賀百万石の文化が育った場所だったのでしょうか。
