From Deva Gate, "Niomon Gate", of Kiyomizu Temple, Kiyomizu-zaka Slope extends westward toward the downtown of Kyoto as downgrade.
A small and narrow slope with stone steps is branched off from Kiyomizu-zaka Slope.
This slope is "Sannei-zaka" slope.

"Sannei-zaka" Slope is well-known and popular to those who visit Kyoto.
Old Kyoto styled houses are along the slope and the "Sannei-zaka" area remains old Kyoto atmosphere.


There is a stone monument on the slop, indicating "Sannei-zaka" Slope in Japanese.

A narrow street stretches from the foot of "Sannei-zaka" Slop. Many souvenir shops line along this street.

Also, many of tourists are on this street.
It may be recomended to walk on this street on weekdays especially in the morning, when less people walk on this street.
Then, you will touch with historical atmosphere of Kyoto here.

This slope is named "Ninei-zaka" Slope.
Old houses remain along the slope, also along the street beyond the foot of the slope.
Atmosphere of this slope is also historical and impressive.
