予報通り
早朝から雪が
降り出した高野山です
As forecast said,
it started snowing
this morning in Koyasan.
でした
It was 19°F yesterday
morning.
目覚めた時、顔が冷たくて
手にしたiPhoneも氷のようで
びっくりして床に
落としそうになりました
When I woke up, my face
was cold, and my iPhone
was also so cold that I
almost dropped it.
「奥の院は
お休みしようかな...」
と一瞬思いましたが
I was hesitant to walk to
Okunoin, but
“せーの！”で
お布団から飛び出しました
I decided to get out of
my warm bed.
昨年冬のはじめに
「零下になったら
ガスファンヒーターを
つけよう」
“I can use the gas fan heater
only when the temperatures
are below 32°F”
などという
ガス代を考慮した
ケチなルールを
自分に課しましたが
I created my own rule
because the cost of
gas is very high.
目標が何であれ、
達成することに
異常に満足感を
覚える私は
Whatever the goal is,
I get so excited to
achieve it, so
いつの頃からか
零下でもまったく
ガスファンヒーターは
使用せず
I stopped using the gas
fan heater at all.
足元に
小さな電気ストーブを
置くだけになりました
I only use a small electric
heater.
その上、
Not only that
お天気の良い日は
気温が1-2度でも
部屋中の窓を全開に
している...と話しましたら
I like to open all
the window even it’s
cold.
「植村直己さんみたい」
とマルタカのマスターに
言われました
The master of Marutaka
said once that I live like
Mr. Naomi Uemura,
a mountain climber.
植村さんは
そのようなトレーニングでも
されていたのでしょうか？
Did he train himself by
keeping the windows open
during the winter?
-7度のシャキっとした
空気の奥の院です
Okunoin looked so dignified
in 19°F.
御廟の橋の前で深呼吸
I always have a deep
breath here.
帰り道、壇上伽藍に
着く頃には
太陽がキラキラして
いました
On my way back,
the sun started coming up.
よいお天気ですし
昨日はY子と
またカツサンドに
ビールでしたので
もう1ラウンド
歩くことにしました
It was such a nice day,
and I had pork cutlet and
beer with my friend again
the day before yesterday,
so I decided to walk more.
鶯谷に向かう途中で
朝、一の橋の前で
言葉を交わした
印刷屋さんに
また会いました
On my way to Uguisudani,
I saw a gentleman, whom
I just saw at Okunoin
in the morning.
「また会いましたね。
今度は何処行くん？」
It’s you again.
Where are you going now?
高野山は小さな町なので
一歩外に出ると
知り合いに出会います
Because Koyasan is such
a small town, once you
come out from your house,
you definitely see someone
you know.
そして
前回同様また帽子を
忘れました
Again, I forgot to wear
my hat to protect myself
「こんなに陽にあたって
大丈夫かな」
と町の中心に戻って来ると
I was a little concerned
about the sunlight, so I
decided to come back to
the main street
「今日は遅いな」
とレストラン丸万の
板長が道の反対側から
声をかけます
“You’re late today”
said the owner of
Restaurant Maruman.
毎朝奥の院へ行く途中で
丸万の前でタバコを吸う
板長にお会いするのです
He always sees me
walking to Okunoin
in the morning.
「いえいえ、
第2ラウンドです」
No, this is the second
round today.
明日は歯医者なので
南都銀行でキャッシュを
おろし
Because I have to see
a dentist next day,
I stopped by the bank,
got some cash, and
外に出ると
右から車が来たので
止まりましたが
その車が一向に
発車しません
when I came out
from the bank,
I saw a car coming from
the right, so I stopped,
but the car didn’t start.
「？」
よくよく見れば
マルタカのマスター
でした
The driver was
the master of Marutaka.
いくら高野山が
狭いとはいえ
町中でマルタカのマスターに
出会う確率はかなり高いです
Although Koyasan is a small
town, the chances that I
encounter him are very high.
まだ歩き足りないの
そのまま大門に
行きました
I continued to walk
to Daimon.
Choishimichi →Okunoin
少しだけ下りて....
登って....
I went down and
climbed right back.
本気で歩いて来たかのごとく
Even though I didn’t walk
a whole Choishimichi,
I was contented,
大門の私の指定席に座り
一休みしました
sat on my favorite bench
and took a break.
ここに来ると
高野山に住んでいることを
実感します
This great scenery always
remind me that I am living
in Koyasan.
一旦アパートに戻り
午後からは
久しぶりに
大塔と金堂を拝観
しました
After going back to
my apartment once,
I decided to go and
see the inside of Daito
and Kondo.
最近拝観料がだいぶ
値上がりしましたが
The admission fee
has gone up recently,
however,
「高野町民です」
all I need to say is
“I am a resident of
Koya Town”
の”印籠”をかかげれば
いつでも無料で
拝観できます
Then, everything is
free of charge.
高野山を
東から西へ
西から北へ
北から西へ
歩き回りました
I’ve walked all over
Koyasan.
20,363歩
お遍路が射程圏内に
入りましたので
力も入ります
Because I’m going on
pilgrimage soon,
I’m so eager to train
myself.
コロナが落ち着くことと
この体調が持続することを
願うばかりです
I just wish that the Covid-19
will ease, and my health
condition will remain good.
