今朝は金堂に不断経の
法会を見に行きました。
Sweets Cafe Kiku
I went to Kondo to attend
the Buddhist Memorial Service
called “Hudangyo”
滅罪生善（めつざいしょうぜん）の
ために1週間、金堂の中を理趣経に
節を付けて堂内を廻ります
They chant “Rishukyo” continuously
for a week to eliminate bads and
yield goods.
金堂の中に入りますと...
As soon as entering
the Kondo,
扉が全開されているにも
かかわらず、
ムゥとする空気が
滞っています。
I felt unpleasant warm air
though all doors left open.
かなり多くの人が、
密で座っているのに
驚きました。
I was also surprised to see
many people sitting close
each other in a tiny space.
他の人から離れ、
扉の近くに座りましたが、
酷い蒸し暑さです。
I sat down by the entrance
and away from the rest of
people.
暑さのせいではないと
思いますが、
I didn’t believe it was
because of the heat,
but
唱えている理趣経が
乱れ始めたかと思うと、
一瞬止まってしまいました。
The chant was disturbed
and abruptly stopped.
それを合図に、
密と蒸し暑さから
撤退することに
しました。
It was a cue for me
to escape from the crowds
and humidity.
暑さしのぎと
高野山の夏の思い出に
かき氷を食べに行くことに
しました。
I decided to eat shaved ice
to cool off as well as making
a memory of summer in
Koyasan.
場所は、
千手院橋の北、
宿坊協会斜め向かいです。
It’s located on the north of
Senjuinbashi and diagnal
to Koyasan Tourism
Association Center.
前々から気になっている
“ぜんざい”の横に
取って付けたような
“氷”の一文字。
The signage of “shaved Ice”
was added to the regular
menus.
ふと横を見ると、
Then I’ve just noticed that
かき氷を食べにきましたが、
チーズトーストに
興味がわいてきました。
they also offer cheese toast,
which sounded good, too.
しかし、
But,
高野山の夏の思い出を
作りに来たのですから、
“今日はかき氷”と
自分に言い聞かせ、
店の中に入りました。
I reminded myself that
I’m here to have shaved ice
today, then entered.
「寒い....」
It’s cold...
お店の中はエアコンが強く、
かき氷は一瞬にして
消えました。
The AC was so strong that
I quickly gave up on
the shaved ice.
オーダーを取りに来た女性に、
I said to the lady who
came to take an order,
「かき氷を食べにきたのですが、
やはりチーズ....」
I wanted to have shaved ice,
but I’d actually like to have
cheese...
「おすすめはこれ！
美味しいですよ！」
I’d recommend this one!
It’s very delicious!
かき氷でも
チーズトーストでもなく、
なぜかチョコレートパンケーキを
食べることになりました。
So, I decided to have
chocolate pancakes,
instead of neither shaved ice
nor cheese toast.
おすすめでしたが、
アイスクリームが
切れているということで
100円引きの650円です。
It was her recommendation,
but they ran out the ice cream,
so gave me a discount.
お味はと言いますと、
The taste was,
見た目そのままのお味です。
you can actually guess
from what you’ve seen
from the picture.
ふわっとはしていなく、
少々固めの
歯応えのあるパンケーキです。
It wasn’t airy, rather chewy.
期待していなかったので
意表を突いたのは
コーヒーです。
What surprised me was
the taste of coffee, which
was unexpectedly good.
ハワイのコナコーヒーのような
濃い風味で、ほのかに
ヘーゼルナッツの香りが
しました。
It tasted like Kona Coffee,
which had a full body, and
I even smelled Hazelnut.
お会計時に、
コーヒーを作った男性に
聞きました。
At the cashier, I asked
a gentleman who made
coffee,
「コーヒーはどちらの豆ですか？」
Which coffee beans
do you use?
「どこやったかな。」
I wonder where it came from.
他にも、カレー、サンドイッチ、
丼もの、ピザなどありますが、
高野山には珍しく、
ほとんどが700円~800円です。
This cafe also offers
curry rice, sandwich, varieties
of bowled rice and pizza.
The price range is lower than
other restaurants in Koyasan.
次回はチーズトースト、
または、
おぜんざいを
いただきたいと思います。
I shall try the cheese toast
or sweet red beans and mochi
next time.
