最近歩数を一日
15,000歩に増やしたせいか、
I wonder because I increased
to walk 15,000 steps a day,
今朝起きたときに
左足に違和感を感じ、
I felt a little pain
on my left knee, so
奥の院へ行くのを
あきらめかけました。
I was almost going to
give up on going to
Oku-no-in.
とりあえず外に
でましたら、
But, when I stepped out,
気温19度の空気は
清々しく、
the air was crisp, and
奥の院の方角は
綺麗な朝焼けでした。
the sky looked gorgeous.
何か良いことが
起こりそうな日曜日。

朝焼けの写真を撮るのに
夢中で、
Because I was so into
taking pictures of
the morning glow,
いつもですと、
一の橋の前で
バックから出すお念珠を
すっかり忘れて、
I forgot to have a rosary
on my hand at Ichinohashi.
参道を歩き出して
バックからお念珠を
取り出したその瞬間、
While walking, the moment
I took my rosary out from
my purse,
お念珠の紐が切れ、
the thread tied the beads
cut off, and
参道の脇に
散らばってしまいました。
the beads were scattered
all over the ground.
このお念珠は、
お遍路の大先輩お二方から
いただいたものです。
This rosary was given by
my dear friends whom I met
during the pilgrimage.
おふたりが、
四国別格霊場の20寺を
回られた際、
When they did pilgrimage
for 20 “ Bekkaku” temples
on Shikoku,
各寺で寺の名前が入った珠を
一つずつ購入し、作って
くださったものです。
they purchased a bead at
each temple and at the end
made a rosary with 20 beads.
「何が悪いことでも
起こるのかしら.....」
I wondered if something bad
would happen.
と、珠を拾っておりましたら、
When I was picking up
the each bead from the ground,
毎朝のように挨拶を交わす、
優しい笑を浮かべた男性が
通りかかりました。
a gentleman with gentle smile
walked by.
「お念珠が切れてしまって....」
My rosary got cut off....
「ほぅ、良いことあるって
言いますよ。」
Oh, it means good luck.
「えっ、悪いことが起こるのかと
ドキドキしていました。」
Really? I was worried that
something bad would happen.
「いやいや、きっと良いこと
ありますよ。」
No, no, something good will
happen to you.
気持ちは、とても楽に
なりました。
I felt much better.
最後の1つを見つけるのに
苦労しましたが、
It took a while to find
the last one, but
20珠、無事揃いました。
I found all 20 of them.
インターネットで
調べましたら、
According to the
internet,
お念珠が切れるということは、
A rosary being cut means
悪縁が切れる、
it cuts off bad luck.
また、
or
身代わり
it sacrifices itself for me.
という意味があるそうです。
とにかく、
At any rate,
20珠見つかったことに
ひたすら感謝でございます。
I’m very thankful that
all 20 beads had been found.
