四国遍路の大先輩から
写真とメッセージが
届きました。
I’ve received a picture
and message from
my friend for pilgrimage.
「貴方が滑った辺りです。」
Here is the place
you fell down.
写真のこの場所は、
35番清瀧寺に上がる
山道です。
This picture shows
the mountain path
to the #35 Kiyotaki-ji.
梅雨前線真っ只中
この山水が流される中
歩かれているかと思うと
心配ではありますが、
It makes me worry that
he is walking here
in the seasonal rain front,
however,
この私も、
昨秋の台風18号のさなか
同じように
山道を登っていました。
I, too, walked here last fall
in the middle of a typhoon.
この写真と同じくらいの
流れでしたが、
The water was running
so hard just like this
picture,
思いっきり滑り、
I slipped,
思いっきり転び、
fell down so badly,
and
立ち上がれませんでした。
I couldn’t get up.
身体ごと流されるとは
思いませんでしたが、
I did’t think I would be
swept away, but
立ち上がることが
できないことに
恐怖を感じました。
the fact that I had a hard
time to stand up in
the water was scary.
その時、
彼の冷静な声が
聞こえました。
Then I heard his voice,
「杖！ 杖！」
Stick ! Stick !
「杖をこちらに！
引っ張り上げます！」
Give me your stick!
I will pull you！
金剛杖を渡すと、
74歳の大先輩は
いとも簡単に
私を引き起こしました。
When I gave my stick,
he, 74 years old, pulled me
so easily.
あの一瞬
At that moment,
私の頭の中は
in my mind
まさに、
it was just like
ケイン・コスギの
リポビタンDでした。
a scene of TV commercial.
大先輩からの
途中経過の報告に
一喜一憂しながら、
I’m excited to hear from him
every day about his pilgrimage.
雷の響く高野山で、
来年の春遍路に
思いを馳せるのでした。
I’m also looking forward
to doing pilgrimage next
spring while listening
to the thunder in Koyasan.
