そして、高野四郎。
栗まんじゅう
と掲げるだけあり、
お菓子司さざ波に
行きました。
I went to Sazanami to buy
some sweets.
場所は壇上伽藍から
大門に向かい徒歩3分、
ファミリーマートの隣です。
It’s located about 3 minute walk
from Danjo-Garan and next to
Family Mart.
「酒饅頭」の専門店と
思いきや、
I thought Saka-Manju was
their signature item, but

The signage (shop curtain) said
“Koya Shiro”
壇上伽藍の大好きな鐘、
高野四郎がもなかとして
活躍しているとは.....
Koya Shiro is the nickname
for the bell in Danjo-Garan.
気になりましたのは、
It caught my eye.
お大師様を
大河ドラマに！
Let’s make a tv drama
based on Kukai!
お大師様役はやはり
染谷将太でしょうか。
I wonder if the main role, Kukai,
will be played by Shota Sometani.
短絡的過ぎました。
I jumped to the conclusion
too quickly.
映画「空海」で
染谷将太が空海だったと
いうだけです。
I said it only because he played
Kukai in the movie “Kukai”
しかし、染谷将太が今、
私の好きな織田信長を
演じているのも奇遇です。
But, what a coincidence that
he also plays my favorite
Lord Nobunaga Oda, in
the tv drama now.
やはり空海役は
染谷将太でいきましょう。

蒸し羊羹もとても
気になりましたが、
今日は王道の酒饅頭。
I bought Saka Manju because
it’s their signature sweet.
「酒」がかわいいです。

米麹を壺の中で48時間
自然発酵させた生地は、
米麹の香りが漂い、
モチモチの食感が
たまりません。
Its dough is malted rice.
It has distinctive “malted”
smell, and the texture
is soft and chewy.
甘え控えめのこしあんで、
とても素朴なお味です。
The beans are not too sweet、
and it tastes very simple.

柔らかい皮を想像して
いましたので、
パキーンと割れたのには
焦りました。
Because it was just made,

outside the sweet beans
was still cranchy.
あんこは甘めです。
The beans inside was
sweeter than expected.
そして、

栗まんじゅう
Chestnut Manju.
丸ごとの栗を期待していました。
最近好きな白あんが、
しっとりとして美味で
ございましたが、
I expected to see a whole chestnut
inside, but it was chunks.
White bean paste was moist
and tasty but,
220円は私には高価。
220 yen was a little
expensive to me, so
やはり、
after all,
と掲げるだけあり、
酒饅頭の米麹の香りと
あのモチモチ感を求めて
リピしそうです。
I really liked its “sake” smell
and chewy texture of Saka Manju.
美味しいあんこがいただけて
今日も幸せです。
I’m just so happy to taste
sweet beans again.
