My Passport External Hard drive I have a WD Ultra 'My Passport' external hard drive and had originally configured it to my MacBook pro, but I just received the surface pro 4 as a gift and I'm trying to use the external hard drive with this device. Like most portable drives, the new My Passport supports USB 3.0. To my disappointment, however, it doesn't use a USB-C port, instead opting for an old Micro-USB 3.0 port.

I'm sorry, but those 16 inches are more than enough to damage a drive.| The drive is probably physically damaged. It doesn't take much of a bump to damage them. Professional data recovery is likely the only solution.
