I'm the lucky owner of an ASUS P5KC board, and I'm in the same boat as most other people here. Here's my current status: Downloaded and installed the AttansicL1Ethernet.kext using KextHelper. En1 up and running with no Mac address. (00:00:00 etc) When I use DHCP, it grabs a default 'out of network' IP. When IP and DNS is set manually, still no network, and no ping. However, in Terminal, when I do ifconfig en1, It shows that it has a Mac Address (The mac address used in the instructions found on these forums). But sometimes i've got kernel panic with it ('.timeout.' Found solution: increase ' PCI Clocks' in BIOS (from 64 to 128 in my case). I was so happy when I found this thread!!!
