英語の検定を受けたことはありますか？
英検、TOEIC、TOEFL、IELTS…など
最近ではIELTSを受ける人が増えてきましたね。
そこで、今日はIELTSのWritingセクションのTask2についてです。
IELTSにはAcademicとGeneralという2種類の試験がありますが、
WritingのTask2はAcademicでもGeneralでも変わりません。
Task1では150文字以上（約20分）の回答が求められ、AcademicならGraph分析、Generalなら手紙を書きます。
Task2は250文字以上（約40分）でエッセイを書きます。
ちなみに配点はTask1：Task2=1：2という感じなので、Task1よりTask2に時間を割いた方がいいです。
それではエッセイの書き方について簡単にまとめます。
エッセイの種類
1．One sided argument (agree or disagree?)
- 賛成又は反対の立場をとって自分の意見をまとめる
2．Two sided argument (some say A, the others say B... Discuss bothe views)
- 両者について書き、自分の意見をまとめる
エッセイの構成
One sided argument
1. Introduction：topic & your opinion
2. Body 1：first idea
3. Body 2：second idea
4. Body 3：third idea (Body 3はなくても ok)
5. Conclusion：repeat your opinion
Two sided argument
1. Introduction：topic & opposite opinion & your opinion
2. Body 1：Opposite opinion
3. Body 2：Your opinion
4. Body 3：If needed
5. Conclusion：explain that you understand the opposite opinion, but overall you believe the other.
Introductionの構成
1. Background or a piece of information about the topic
- what you know about the topic (general information)
2. Paragraphing the question
- rephrase the question with other words (car => viechle, student => pupil)
3. Show your stance
- what you believe (agree, disagree or both)
Bodyの構成
1. Give an idea
- topic sentence for your idea
2. Support the idea
- write a reason, evidence, examples, explanation, story or personal experience to support your idea
Conclusionの構成
1. Repeat your opinion
- resummerise the main points
2. Summarise your main ideas
- restate your answer to the question
- no examples or reasons
3. Final statement
- possible implications, future directions
エッセイで一番重要になってくるのはTopicの分析でしょう。
与えられたTopicはOne sided、Two sided argumentのどちらであるのかから。
そして問題を十分に理解したうえで自分なりに意見をまとめてみて下さい。
