Provo seeks big underdog Johnny Manziel Jersey win in Best Towns Tournament

PROVO Utah County folks, Provo needs your vote.

As the county seat, Provo has brought a lot of attention and interest to the area. Now the city is in the running to win the title of best town in the country.

Outside magazine's Best Towns Tournament features a 64 team bracket (similar to that of the NCAA's March Madness) matching up its favorite towns in the country. Provo was included as a No. 16 seed, meaning a first round matchup against top seeded Jackson, Wyo.

"Someone tweeted Mayor (John) Curtis about 2 in the afternoon (Monday) and claimed that Provo was losing in a contest that we, up to then, had not heard about," said Corey Norman, city spokesman. "At that point we were roughly 8,000 votes behind the top seedpowerhouse, Jackson, Wyoming. We, as the underdog 16 seed, started our social media campaign and within two hours rallied 14,000 votes and never looked back."

The magazine took note of Provo's come from behind victory on its website.

"Cincinnati, Ohio, defeated Bloomington, Indiana, by just 39 votes in one of the closest races of the round. But the biggest upset was Provo, Utah, the 16th seed in the West, taking Johnny Manziel Authentic Jersey down favorite Jackson, Wyoming," wrote Todd Hodgson, Outside Online's site director. "It leaves us wondering, Can they win the whole thing?"

According to Outside, readers submitted nearly 400,000 votes during the first round of voting that ended Monday night. nflraidersofficial.com/Nike-Dave-Casper-Jersey.html

"We need the community to stay engaged with us," Norman said. "We want Outside magazine to recognize Provo as America's best place to live.

"So for us, this isn't about getting into the Sweet 16 and a few 'atta boy' pats on the back. Provo deserves to be in the Final Four, but it's up to the community to ride this wave and take us there."

Curtis believes Provo can win if residents and friends of Provo take a minute to vote.

"I'm ready to give Provo the coach 'em up speech if that's what it'll take," Norman said. "I want to win this thing, and the city asks for your vote."

A press release from Outside said the goal of the contest is simple:

"To find the best small town in America. The kind of place with top notch restaurants, vibrant farmers' markets, friendly neighborhoods and unparalleled access to hiking and biking trails. In short, the perfect jumping off point for adventure. Outside's Best Towns contest is back for thefourthyear in a row, with one key difference. This time, the towns are going head to head, and Outside is trusting its favorite experts its readers to pick the best place to live in America."

The magazine expects to crown a winner June 15. Each round of online voting lasts five days, with users able to vote once per round for each matchup. The winners will advance until there are only two towns remaining. Then Outside Online will host a seven day showdown to determine Outside's Best Town 2014. The Sweet 16 will also be featured."
