Local woman on 'Worst Cooks' starting to 'think like a chef'. Regardless, I first learned about beurre fondue 10 years ago when Tom Colicchio's first book, Think Like a Chef, came out. They want to be able to teach you how to think like a chef in their cooking classes, so you can take away the knowledge to build your own cooking creations. Unlike many chef-authors, Colicchio (chef at Gramercy Tavern) does not offer modified restaurant recipes for the home cook. If cookbooks didn't contain recipes, they would still be enjoyable for the text iself. I think chefs, like writers, need to adjust to the changing times. The recipes in this seductively photographed cookbook are grouped in four categories — vegetable and fruits, meat and poultry, fish and seafood, and dairy and eggs.
