前回からの続き。
The sashi-netsuke "The Peony Lantern" project, is going on at the Rokusho-dou.
A continuation from the last time.
「面張り」。
"Surface tensioning".
「作り込み」。
"Detailing.
各部を作り込む。
Elaborate the details of each part.
顔や手指の微妙な表情。
Delicate nuances of face and fingers.
着物の皺や縫い目。
Wrinkles and stitches of clothes.
毛彫りでは、若いお露と老女中との
髪質の違いを表現。
In the hair engraving, the difference of hair quality between young Otsuyu and the old maidservant is expressed.
次は「研磨」。
The next stage is "polishing".

前回からの続き。
The sashi-netsuke "The Peony Lantern" project, is going on at the Rokusho-dou.
A continuation from the last time.
「面張り」。
"Surface tensioning".
造形が終わった面は、まだ凸凹のガタガタ。
これを一面ずつ、ピンと張り直していく。
The modeling is basically completed,
but each surface still involves
thousand of bumps and dents.
So smooth out each surface to get enough tension.
同時に細部を作り込む。
Take care of fine details at the same time.
「面張り」完了。
次は「作り込み」。
The "surface tensioning" is completed.
The next stage is a "detailing".

「象嵌」。
"Inlaying".
各部に以下象嵌作業を施す。
Following inlay-works for each part were done.
・櫛【くし】&笄【こうがい】&髪飾り
黄/茶/黒水牛角で拵えて、髪に埋め込む。
・Comb & kougai & flower ornament
Carved from yellow, brown and black buffalo horn,
and attached into the hair.
The pink ornament is seashell.
・顔
水牛角で、目と眉を表現。
老女中の目玉は四重象嵌。
お露の唇は貝殻。
・Face
Expressed eyes and eyebrows
with buffalo horn.
The old maidservant's eyeball is quadruple inlayed.
Otsuyu's lips are seashell.
専用スタンドにも着手。
The exclusive display stand was also started to be built.
「象嵌」完了。
次は「面張り」。
The "inlaying" is completed.
The next stage is a "surface tensioning".

「本彫り」。
"Main carving".
各部を造形する。
Shape each part of the piece.
凡その形状は見えた感じ。
更に作り込んで行く。
Nearly got the form already.
Gonna keep modeling more.
「紐通し」もクリア。
"Himotoushi" is also done.
「本彫り」完了。
次は「象嵌」。
The "main carving" is completed.
The next stage is a "inlaying".

「粗彫り」。
"Rough carving".
素材的な問題が生じてしまい、
長期頓挫していた本件。
課題を解決して、漸く再起動。
This project, which was meeting setback of material reason for long time, is finally re-started by some solutions.
依頼者様には御詫びのし様も無い。
ここよりはペース上げて参る。
I feel really sorry to the client for this delay, am going to pic up the pace now.
粗いポリゴンで、大まかな形状を彫り起こす。
Dig out the rough form with some simple polygons.
「粗彫り」完了。
次は「本彫り」。
The "rough carving" is completed.
The next stage is a "main carving".
